Servers of a company belonging to PayPal were hacked

Payments system PayPal reported a discovery of a breach of data from one of its affiliate companies. We are talking about a Canadian payment service TIO Networks: the purchasing deal was closed in July 2017 and it cost PayPal $233 million. After that, PayPal specialists started checking the systems, which revealed problems.

It was reported that unknown hackers managed to get access to servers that contained data of individuals, TIO Networks clients, as well as companies that used the service for billing purposes. The exact number of users that were affected by the breach as well as the type of stolen information remains unclear for now; however, it might be financial data. All victims have been offered free monitoring of their accounts. TIO Networks operations have at the moment been suspended.
